LISTINGS / LAST CHANCE
By Holland Cotter
* Thank You for Coming: Tripe Candie: 2001-08: Manhattan's most interesting alternative space—maybe its only real one—is closing its doors with a backward look at its own history. The show includes contributions from artists who did projects there, along with remnants of the space's most innovative offerings: a series of "nonart" exhibitions ranging from an unauthorized David Hammons retrospective composed of photocopied catalog page; a permanent collection show made up of art magazine clips; and a posthumous survey of the work of the fictional artist Lester Hayes. Triple Candie's program of puncturing notions of genius, authenticity and value whizzed straight by most of the art establishment, but will surely end up in the history books.
